Business Permits In Manila Will Now Only Take 1 Day To Be Released

Executive Order No. 8, which aims to ease the process of conducting business in Manila, was signed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno last July 8. The EO ensures that citizens living in Manila will be able to secure their necessary business permits in just 1 day. This is being done in order to promote the productivity of the capital in terms of business.

The EO effectively creates a “Business One-Stop Shop” or BOSS which will fast-track the application of business permits. It will officially launch on July 22, Monday by streamlining the issuance of local business licenses, clearances, permits, certification, and authorizations. It will also direct the flow of documents among departments and offices.

Moreno explained in a speech at the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila: “Dati 11 steps, 11 windows, tama? Thirty days na, wala pa permit mo. Bayad ka na, wala pa permit mo. Sa Lunes, dahil pinirmahan ko na EO No. 8 — ang business permit: 3 steps in one window, in one day.” [Before there were 11 steps, 11 windows, right? 30 days would pass, still no permit. You’ve already paid, still no permit. On Monday, because I signed EO No. 8 — business permits: 3 steps in one window, in one day.]

The following offices will be included in the one-stop shop: the Bureau of Permits and the License Division, City Treasury Cash Division, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) Zoning Division, City Engineering/Building Office including its Electrical Division, Manila Health Department, Electronic Data Processing (EDP) and other regulatory Offices.
