The UST College of Science Student Council (CSSC) will officially kick off the annual College of Science Freshie Week 2026, spanning July 31 to August 6, 2026, at the University of Santo Tomas in Sampaloc, Manila. Centered on the theme “The First Roar of Science: Welcome to the Scare Games,” the Monsters University-inspired event aims to help freshmen gain a sense of belonging before the start of their academic journey.
The First Roar of Science aims to help freshmen connect with their blockmates and build meaningful connections across the various departments within the UST College of Science.
To foster camaraderie and solidarity among the new Thomasian Scientists, the CSSC has prepared a series of friendly competitions and interactive events throughout the week:
Block Mixers and Competitions
Freshmen will mark their first step onto campus through interactive sessions with their blockmates. These sessions will include icebreaker activities and an inter-block props competition intended to build camaraderie among the students.
College Organization Promotion
Organizations within the UST College of Science will conduct interactive presentations to promote their respective organizations to all blocks and recruit prospective members into their communities.
Campus Tour
To further guide the freshmen during their first days at UST, the UST CSSC will conduct organized campus tours introducing them to the iconic buildings and historic landmarks across the UST campus.
Freshie Fright Fest 2026
Inspired by the dynamic world of Monsters University, the UST CSSC will host its own vibrant mini concert. Freshie Fright Fest 2026 will feature live performances from the college’s organizations, sponsor booths, and Monsters University-themed activities intended to officially kick off the freshmen experience on a high note.
Thomasian Welcome Walk 2026
To officially mark the new Thomasian Scientists’ beginning as freshmen, they will participate in one of the university’s long-standing traditions alongside the UST community by walking through the historic Arch of the Centuries.
As the SCIgers let out their first roars upon entering the College of Science, Freshie Week 2026 equips freshmen with compassion and excellence as they begin their individual journeys as Thomasian Scientists.
