Apple announced that Filipino users can now make purchases using Apple Pay wth their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.

On August 4, the tech giant announced that thousands of in-store and online merchants in the Philippines will accept Apple Pay, with support from some of the most established banks.
“The Philippines is home to a digital-first generation that is rapidly embracing a vision for a cashless future, all while expecting security and privacy at every step,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, in an official statement. “Apple Pay makes everyday payments simple, secure, and seamless — whether users are shopping in stores or online — with no need to open another app. We’re thrilled to bring Apple Pay to users in the Philippines, making it easier than ever to pay with the privacy and security they expect from the devices they love.”
How to use Apple Pay
For those using Apple Pay, here’s how you can use Apple Pay to make your in-store or online purchases:
- Double-click the side button or Home button
- Authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID
- Hold the top of the iPhone or display of the Apple Watch near the contactless reader to pay.
The tech giant also shared that users do not have to create accounts or repeatedly type their contact information, card details, or shipping and billing information when they make purchases with their Apple devices.
Moreover, users will earn the same rewards and benefits offered by their debit and credit cards. At launch, credit and debit cardholders from banks including Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, and UnionBank will be able to use Apple Pay.
As of writing, Apple Pay is available in more than 90 countries and regions, and works with more than 11,000 bank partners worldwide.
