Alex Eala’s Historic Run at the Mubadala DC Open

That’s our world champion! Just when we thought Alex Eala’s unstoppable run at this year’s Mubadala DC Open couldn’t get any better, these outstanding feats prove that we’ve only scratched the surface of her journey and what’s yet to come.
Blessings upon blessings poured in for Alex after defeating American tennis star Jessica Pegula in a 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 final. A shout-out from the legendary Rafael Nadal was the cherry on top of her whirlwind of firsts, including:
- Becoming the first Filipina to clinch a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 500 title,
- Earning her first WTA tour championship, and
- Reaching a new career high as the current world number 20 in the WTA rankings.
In case those statistics weren’t mind-blowing enough, Alex even bested the world’s top-seeded female tennis players in consecutive rounds. She’s also reeling in the excitement of sold-out upcoming matches at the Philippine Women’s Open in Manila and the National Bank Open in Toronto.
SB19’s Show-stopping Lollapalooza Debut

SB19 had the whole Lollapalooza crowd chanting “Noypi!” at their dynamic set for the annual music festival. Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin had all of Chicago on its feet as they raised the flag for Pinoy pop (P-pop) and Original Pilipino Music (OPM) onstage. Their next international stop? Summer Sonic in Japan alongside the “Nation’s Girl Group,” BINI! Talk about a must-watch new milestone for P-pop at its finest.
FEMME MNL Makes HER-story at the 2026 World Hip-hop Dance Championship

The Filipino dance scene is going places this month, especially with all-queer crew FEMME MNL at its helm. The fierce and fabulous team represented the country with pride at this year’s World Hip Hop Dance Championship. They bagged gold for the Megacrew division, while their kababayans of The Crew secured silver.
Meanwhile, the HQ Dance Collective also won gold for the competition’s Adult division, while Folk Jumpers earned bronze. Syawatha Jr. finished bronze in the Junior category, as well.
Katrina Llegado Is Our New Miss Supranatural

Katrina Llegado couldn’t have said it better: “The crown is finally back home!” Hailing from Taguig City, she bested 66 other candidates from around the world to be crowned this year’s Miss Supranatural, succeeding Brazil’s Eduarda Braum. This marks the first time a Filipina has earned the pageant title in over a decade, following Mutya Datul’s win in 2013.
EJ Obiena Soars High at the Halberstadt Pole Vault Meet in Germany

The sky truly is the limit for EJ Obiena, who bagged gold at the 2026 Halberstadt Pole Vault Meet in Germany. He cleared 5.76 meters, sharing the podium with silver medalist Seifeldin Abdelsalam from Qatar and bronze medalist Cole Walsh from the U.S.
A “wonderful time” awaited EJ in Germany as he also got the opportunity to sign the prestigious Golden Book of Halberstadt with long-jump veteran and former world record holder Heike Drechsler.
