Alex Eala and Jessica Pegula’s match in the women’s singles final of the Mubadala DC Open was suspended due to thunderstorms.

Jessica took the opening set, 6–4, while Alex was leading 2–1 in the second set when the match was suddenly halted because of the rain. Meanwhile, the men’s final between American Taylor Fritz and Spain’s Rafael Jodar was also postponed.
A short time later, the organizers announced that play would resume the following day once conditions were deemed safe and playable.
Matches have been cancelled for tonight.
The women’s singles final will now take place at 12:00pm tomorrow.
The men’s singles final will take place not before 1:00pm tomorrow. Ticketing information to come soon.

With that, the match between Alex and Jessica will proceed on Tuesday, August 4 at 12:00 AM (Manila time).
This match is a highly anticipated showdown between two of the sport’s biggest stars. American tennis player Jessica Pegula won her first WTA title in 2019 and previously defeated Eala in the semifinals of the 2025 Miami Open. Meanwhile, Eala has been enjoying a career-best season. To reach the final, she defeated former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka, second seed Elina Svitolina, and defending champion Leylah Fernandez.
