WATCH: Doctor is greeted with applause as he returns to duty after recovering from COVID-19

A doctor in Brooklyn, New York returns to work after he recovers from COVID-19. In an Instagram video shared by David Muir from ABC, Dr. Paul Sanders is seen making his rounds in the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.

He is greeted with applause and cheers by fellow health workers and hospital personnel as he comes back to work. Dr. Sanders is a heart surgeon and was diagnosed with COVID-19 last month. He has now returned to work to treat COVID-19 patients.

In the video, Dr. Sanders says that the greeting they gave him was all unexpected and undeserved. He also gives thanks to the hospital staff for coming to work and working hard during this time.

As of writing, there have been 159,937 cases reported cases of COVID-19 in New York with 7,067 fatalities and 16,234 recoveries. The United States currently has the most number of reported cases in the world.
