“Makikinig o kikiligin?” – A netizen could not help but ask after seeing how Noreen reacted when her now-fiancé popped the question during Coldplay’s live performance of “Yellow!” The soon-to-be bride shared the video of her realized dream Coldplay concert proposal with us, as well as the story behind it.
In their eight wonderful years together, Noreen says marriage wasn’t such a taboo. Her partner’s marriage proposal during a Coldplay concert, however, seemed to be impossible for them at first.

According to her, she wasn’t expecting a proposal at this point. The couple wasn’t fond of public displays of affection; and despite being Coldplay fans, they didn’t always have the budget to splurge on tickets for their favorite band’s concerts especially back in their first Philippine concert in 2017, when the pair were still students. Furthermore, they already have a child and she’s currently pregnant with baby number two!
Like an answered prayer, they were gifted with tickets to Coldplay’s Manila concert this time, which was part of the band’s “Music of the Spheres” world tour. She said, “Grabe lang talaga kasi back-to-back blessings.”
“Bago pa man daw kasi kami magka-anak, kung hindi man daw ipagkaloob ni Lord na makapagpropose sya sa akin sa concert ng Coldplay, yayayain nya raw ako mag hike na kaming dalawa lang at doon daw sya magpo-propose,” she elaborated. “Pero iba si Lord kumilos sa buhay namin. Talagang binigay niya yung the best experience sa samin.”
Initially, the soon-to-be groom planned to propose during Coldplay’s song “Sparks.” But then, Noreen pulled him down during “Yellow” and asked him to take a video of her while enjoying the concert! This changed things as he immediately decided that it was the perfect timing. “Hindi nga siya nagkamali, sobrang perfect and magical nung moment,” the woman affirmed.
While vibing to the classic love song like everyone was at the concert, her then-boyfriend called her attention and there he was, presenting an engagement ring to her. “Akala ko talaga prank. Kasi sabi ko sa kanya, videohan nya ako during ‘Yellow,’ bababa ako ng isang row. Kaya sa video kumakaway kaway pa ako,” she recalled. “Nung kinalabit niya ako grabe yung gulat ko. Nablangko ako. Hindi maprocess ng utak ko yung nangyayari. Halo-halong emosyon.”
“Sabi ko sa kanya dati, if ever man na magpropose siya sa akin, tatalunan ko siya at magpapabuhat ako. Sisigaw pa ng malakas na YES NA YES! Sabay kiss. Pero nung nangyayari na talaga, para akong nanigas. Tanong ako ng tanong sa kanya kung ‘Totoo ba to? Di nga?’ Kasi hindi talaga ako makapaniwala. Di ko namamalayan, grabe na yung iyak ko. Tulo uhog na rin ako. Nasa isip ko lang nun, grabe Lord! Grabe ka! Lupa kainin mo ako!”
Although Noreen appeared to be torn in the video between focusing on Coldplay’s live performance of “Yellow” in front of her and her partner’s proposal behind her, she also explained what really happened. “Hindi ako tumatalikod dahil mas gusto kong manood, tumatalikod ako kasi natataranta ako sa sobrang pag-iyak. Nanginginig ako habang sinusuot nya yung singsing sakin,” she clarified.
“Nung niyakap na nya ako, doon na ako medyo kumalma at nakaramdam ng sobrang comfort at pagmamahal,” she continued.
Expounding on their relationship, she mentioned, “Dahil maagang nabyuda yung mommy ko, pangarap ko talagang magkaroon ng buo at masayang pamilya. Sabi ko sa sarili ko na pag ako nagkaroon ng sarili kong pamilya, pangako ko na gagawin ko lahat maranasan lang mga anak ko yung kumpleto at masayang pamilya. Pero hindi pala ganon kadali yun.”
“Sa kabila ng lahat, pinili parin namin ang isa’t isa kaya being with him is like healing my inner child. Hindi lang dahil napakabuti nya sa akin bilang partner sa buhay, napaka responsable at mapagmahal din nyang ama sa mga anak namin. Siya yung katuparan ng mga pangarap ko simula bata pa ako. We both know na hindi magiging madali. Marami pang susubok sa amin pero with God’s grace, lahat magiging worth it,” Noreen claimed.
With the fulfillment of her dream Coldplay concert proposal, she concluded, “Itong proposal na ‘to, isa ‘to sa mga living testimonies of how great our God is in our lives. Ano mang sabihin ng iba, para sa amin, kaloob to ng Diyos and it’s just so magical and perfect.”
