Shaina Magdayao was starstruck by award-winning actress Meryl Streep at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival!

As detailed in her Instagram Stories, Shaina Magdayao rushed to catch Meryl Streep’s talk at the festival. The actress was present to attend the world premiere of “Directors Factory Philippines,” an omnibus film project of four short films made by directors from Southeast and South Asia. Among the four films, Shaina Magdayao stars in “Walay Balay” alongside Ruby Ruiz, who is also in Cannes with several other Filipino filmmakers and actors.

Following its premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Cineastes) at this year’s Festival de Cannes, Shaina Magdayao changed into flats and ran in her white Filipiniana terno by Russel May Cordero. “Priority si Mama Meryl,” she quipped. She even shared clips on her way towards the venue as she could not contain her excitement.

Finally, Shaina Magdayao made it to the Claude Debussy Theatre. Meryl Streep was presented with an Honorary Palme d’Or during the festival opener and received a standing ovation as she entered the stage. ICYMI, some of Meryl Streep’s iconic roles were in the 1982 film “Sophie’s Choice,” the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada” with Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, and the 2008 film “Mamma Mia!” with Amanda Seyfried.
“You are my hero! What a beautiful and extraordinarily talented human being!” Shaina Magdayao exclaimed in another post. “Thank you, bestest actress!”
