John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao attended the world premiere of their 2023 movie, “Essential Truths of the Lake,” at the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The former couple was captured together with their director Lav Diaz and co-star Hazel Orencio, as seen on Crown Artist Management Inc.’s recent post.

As part of the main competition at the Swiss film fest, “Essential Truths of the Lake” is reportedly the sole Southeast Asian film in the Concorso Internazionale category.
The award-winning director’s note goes, “What can a good policeman do in the face of Duterte’s murderous wrath? Lt. Papauran fixates on the deep mystery of a cold case he has been trying to solve for years. Great investigators are obsessive visionaries. They are also human beings.”
