On June 17, Myrtle shared screenshots showing the suspect using her SIM from the stolen phone to message her assistant. The suspect claimed that the phone was sold to them for ₱40,000 and even sent a GCash number, asking her to send payment first.

However, the cosplayer decided against it. Instead of sending payment, she secured her accounts, suspended her SIM, and froze all her wallets and online banking services.

As of writing, her phone has reportedly been moved from Ever Gotesco to Greenhills.

Apart from sharing updates about her stolen phone, the PBB alum also clarified misinformation circulating about her online.

“I do not have anything indecent on that phone. I never have, and I never would compromise my faith, values, and principles. The only reason I offered a reward was because of all the hassle that comes with losing a phone,” she addressed followers, adding that she’s only worried about work files, cosplay footages, and years of personal memories that she can no longer retrieve.

“Sobrang sakit talaga na mawalan ng gamit. Pero mas masakit na may mga taong parang babastusin ka pa habang pinagdadaanan mo yung sitwasyon,” she added.

Following the incident, the cosplayer-actress urged social media users to be more vigilant of their surroundings to ensure that the same incident wouldn’t happen to them.

She also urged store owners not to enable robbery and theft.

“I know there are many honest store owners in Ever Gotesco, Greenhills, and other places who legitimately buy and sell secondhand phones. But let’s also acknowledge that there are people who buy devices with very questionable origins and, in doing so, may unknowingly—or sometimes knowingly… allow this cycle to continue,” she wrote.

While the incident caused her immense distress, she believes that she has been protected from “something much worse,” including the possibility of being hacked or her finances compromised.

On June 13, Myrtle shared that her phone had gone missing during an event and pleaded for its return, offering a P30,000 reward in exchange.

“Every stolen phone belongs to someone. Someone worked hard for it. Someone saved up for months or even years to buy it. Someone has memories inside it that can never be replaced.”
