When In Manila and in dire need of going on a roadtrip to a serene place yet still wanting to feel that city vibe, Subic is the best place for you to go! With the Subic Freeport Zone as its main business district, it’s as if the skyscraper-surrounded Makati is just 10-minutes away. However, in Subic, you’ll still be surrounded by great mountain views, fresh air, beaches, and great people!

Of course, you’ll need a place to stay overnight to truly enjoy the Subic experience, though. What if you have a limited budget? Well, if you want to experience “the BEST” accomodations in Subic without breaking the bank, Lighthouse Marina Resort is definitely the hotel to have the ‘suite’-est stay in Subic – that’s for sure! 🙂

 

We travelled for around 3 hours on the way through NLEX, Zambales and finally, the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

 

The road trip was really a refreshing one since we passed by the Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway (SCTEx) and Pampanga. Also, we had fun with all of the sing-alongs that we did to kill time hahaha.

It seemed like a historical field trip with all of the important sites that we passed by, as well, such as the Death March route, the Mt. Pinatubo lahar sites and the iconic golden Death March rotonda statue. After the long yet interesting 5-hour trip (mainly caused by EDSA traffic), we finally arrived at the Lighthouse Marina Resort/Subic Freeport Zone at 2pm! We were so excited because we knew that we were about to experience one ‘suite’ escape 🙂

 

 

Lighthouse Marina Resort is an alluring 3-storey boutique hotel located at the corner of the Waterfront Road in the Subic Freeport Zone. Since it only has 34 rooms (6 suites/ 28 deluxe), the hotel is never crowded and it feels more ‘exclusive’ overall, as well. Our stay at Lighthouse Marina coincided with the previously ongoing competition of the TATAP International Table Tennis Federation, though, so the resort was almost fully booked for the whole week by the competing foreigners. This just proves that the resort really is a top choice of accommodation at Subic Bay, even by foreign nationals.

The hotel architecture and design feature some sophisticated Italian origins, yet create a simple classical look that matches well with the infamous 20-meter light tower. Upon entering the hotel lobby, the white marble flooring, elegant chandelier and the white grand piano make the luxurious feel even  sweeter along with all their good-looking staff! Yes, I just had to mention that 😉

To finally feed our UTTER excitement, we were led to our room! The elevator was just enough to fit the four of us along with our luggages, or else, it would have already been TOO claustrophobic. Anyway, we passed this ship cabin-looking hallway, which the Anne Curtis and the Dyesebel crew used to tape certain scenes.

As mentioned, they have 34 rooms which are all referred as “Aqua” – a really fitting name with all of the oceanic aura and water-centric designs mainly shown through the very nice bathrooms they have. Furthermore, the guest rooms are categorized into four: the basic Aqua Room, Aqua Terrace, Aqua Veranda ,the Aqua Spa Suite and the Aqua Veranda Suite – the last being the most special one with its different bed configurations and separate living room.

Now, let me introduce to you one of the best rooms in the hotel with its two balconies and luxurious amenities: the Aqua Spa Suite.

We were so lucky to experience one of the most exclusive suites in the already-exclusive Lighthouse Marina Resort: the Aqua Spa Suite located at the corner of the hotel. It’s approximately a 39-47 sq.m. room and features a deluxe jaccuzzi bath, spacious bedspace, modern equipment and ultimately, awe-inspiring views of Subic Bay, the mountains, and the swimming pool below.

 

The Aqua Veranda bed area is equipped with a king-sized bed (with ultra comfortable sheets and lushpillows), a Dual Alarm Clock Radio and iPod Station w/remote

 

Besides the balconies and the well-equipped bedroom area, our Aqua Spa Suite also had individually-controlled air conditioning, mini bar/fridge, a 42″ 3D LCD television, a telephone, LAN internet access, and WiFi connection (limited to a number of gadgets). The room allows a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 4, and also includes two complimentary access to a generous buffet breakfast at the Sands Grill. Though, if you have young companions aged 6 and below, their breakfast will be free of charge!

Afternoon cocktails, turndown service, and complimentary nightcap drinks are for free, by the way! They will give you a snack during 4pm to 6pm for the afternoon cocktails, while you can request for hot chocoloate, coffee or tea for a good nightcap.

Thanks to the SURREAL ultra HD TV in the room, watching the Big Bang Theory was even more special! You can also wear the 3D glasses available to enhance TV viewing while lying down on the ultra comfy bed 🙂

Wake up to a magnificent view of the Subic Bay through the large glass door of the room or simply sit by the balcony to experience it 🙂

 

 

Lighthouse Marina Resort is also very proud of their plush bathrooms with their impeccable designs and special inclusions like rainforest shower heads encased in glass, terry cotton bathrobes, and a bountiful selection of basic bath amenities. The Aqua Spa Suite takes things a notch higher with its Jacuzzi tub, as well.

This is the view of the outside from the right side of the hotel building. It’s not fully developed yet, but it sure looks to have great potential in attracting more visitors to Subic once it’s finished 🙂

 

Be surrounded by tall palm trees and a nice view of the Subic Bay setting at their pool. Its size is just enough for the number of transients the hotel can accomodate. It’s open from 8am to 10pm daily 🙂

  

This is the Sands Resto and Grill (the airconditioned and al fresco areas) where you can order exceptionally delicious food from an exquisite set of international choices.

 

 

While the Sands Resto Grill is the main dining location at the hotel, you may also opt to request dining set-ups in other places, may it be in your room, the beach shores, at the view deck, or even on a sailboat!
