Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3: Will a Pinay Be the Next ANTM?
Philippines is indeed a melting pot of natural beauty. Like a flower, every Pinay blooms over time and faces the crowd with vibrant colors and sophistication. In my opinion, every Pinay deserves the title of Ms. Universe, Ms. World and even Asia’s Next Top Model.
Being a pageant-amorous country, the Philippines has taken the pageant arena by storm, making it a household name in crowning moments. Deluge of screams and panics of votes have been the best contributions of Filipinos worldwide in such beauty competitions. And now fans will now flock once again towards the runway of the glitz and the glamour of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3.
Katarina Rodriguez and Jodilly Pendre from Philippines during Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3
After the shining streaks of Pinays on the runway like Stephanie Retuya (1st RU Asia’s Next Top Model Season 1) and the powerful tandem of Jodilly Pendre (1st RU Asia’s Next Top Model Season 2) and Katarina Rodriguez (2nd RU Asia’s Next Top Model Season 2), Pinoys will definitely look out for our bet for this third season.
This is one of my favorite photos of Jodilly during the competition. She’s tagged here as the levitating lady. She also earned the best photo during the shoot.
The casting call is now over. And as a true blue fan of Asia’s Next Top Model, I am firm with my belief that this season, a Pinay will have its final runway towards the limelight. Here are my 3 theories why.
Those eyes are haunting me. This photo of Katarina earned her the best photo that cycle.
3. Being a model is not just about being blonde; a Filipina model is fierce beyond hair color.
If you are an avid fan of AsNTM S2, you would probably know what I am talking about. Maybe the heartache of seeing Jodilly Pendre just taking the runner-up post still makes us cringe whenever we talk about the finals. Oh well. We really need to move on from that. I can feel that this season, a Pinay will really win the title.
We have seen Jodilly with her levitating photos, which earned her mark in AsNTM. I am not really a model, so I can’t tell if hair is a must for them to be on top, but one thing is for sure: you don’t need to be blonde to stand out. You just need to be fierce to transcend fading hair colors. You know what I mean, girls.

2. A Filipina is a ying yang of extremes.
It has been said many times and in many ways that we Filipinos are characterized with an amazing range of background and lifestyle, which makes us a ying yang of extremes. Some are bred in the provinces and others bloom in the cities, while some are tamed in the urban life and later on surrendered to the rural simplicity.
This is very evident with Jodilly, a meek lady who is quite timid but bursts into fierceness with her photos and Katarina who is an outspoken girl-next-door lady who mimics innocence in every shoot. Either way, Filipinas are great chameleon sprinkling every competition with the yings and the yangs that make them stand out.

1. A Filipina is simply competitive.
A Filipino’s spirit cannot be dampened by any typhoon, sored by drought, degraded by political turmoil or any defeat. We always smile despite any despair. And after two attempts of a nearly successful pitch of getting the title of Asia’s Next Top Model, I am a firm believer that on its third season, a Pinay will stand out among asians (and mixed asians). After all, Filipinas will not be Filipinas if they didn’t embody competitiveness. So, girls, watch out for our representative/s.
They’re just some of the Pinays who joined the casting call. Let’s watch out for more.
Fox International Channel will soon release the date when Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 will be aired. I know many of us AsNTM fans are very excited to hear the lines “You’re still in the running to become Asia’s Next Top Model.” And I can already smell victory after seeing the ladies who auditioned for this season’s AsNTM. Besides, Pinays will always be on top.
Do you agree with my forecast? 🙂
