When in Manila, Korea’s Caffe Bene Offers a Different Coffee Experience

4 Minutes was up! It was time to clear the bubbles, take-out the coffee grind, swipe out the crema, and take a spoonful of the brewed coffee. Sip it with a great, loud sound (as if you were enjoying a soup in a Chinese restaurant).

I personally prefer dark-roasted coffee (less sugar, no cream, no syrups, no flavorings); but this time, I kept an open mind and open palate – when I tasted the Caffe Bene “medium-roasted” coffee. I let it swirled around my tongue and spit it (as instructed!). It is balanced, with medium acidity and sort of caramel-like taste. I took one more sip to check the body – it is medium-bodied, and doesn’t leave a bitter like/heavy taste in the mouth.

The verdict?

It is a balanced, flavorful coffee that you can drink on its own. No sugar, no cream, no syrup and no flavorings.

I personally know people who order really strong coffee who add alot of sugar and cream that kills the real flavor of the coffee.
