In today’s viral internet find, Diptyque’s luxurious take on “katol” is making waves online. The Paris-based luxury fragrance brand recently unveiled its summer collection, which includes the Citronnelle (Lemongrass) Incense.

According to its website, the brown circular coil releases “light wisps of lemongrass” into the air. “From dusk forward, the spiral releases relaxing notes recalling the peaceful atmosphere of a water garden,” the description reads.

Described as having a “fresh, herbaceous scent,” the incense retails for 60 euros, or around ₱4,259.70. Each purchase comes with a set containing six scented coils and a stand.

The scented coils are part of the brand’s summer collection, created in collaboration with mosaic artist Mathilde Jonquière. For the collection, the artist worked with Venetian enamel, glass paste, and gold to create lush and intricately crafted designs inspired by nature.

As soon as the product reached the Pinoy side of the internet, netizens were quick to point out its resemblance to the classic katol, which typically costs anywhere from ₱20 to ₱50 depending on the brand, type, and where it’s purchased.

And of course, whenever something goes viral online, Filipinos never miss the opportunity to come up with the funniest reactions and memes.
