THE COFFEE
Interestingly, Caffe Bene only gets 2% of the world’s best coffee. They care about the quality and consistency of the coffee beans and these are roasted on their very own roasting plant.
Derrick Chua (Head of Marketing for Caffe Bene) welcomed us to
the world of Caffe Bene
For us to better appreciate their signature coffee, we were given a chance to do “Coffee Cupping”. Coffee Cupping is a practice of testing and appreciating the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. This gives coffee enthusiasts an idea about the coffee’s acidity, body, aroma and taste.
Caffe Bene President, Desmond Chua shared that there are hundreds of tastes to describe coffee
Caffe Bene takes pride on their “medium roasted” coffee beans that provides a balanced flavor and distinct coffee taste. Opposite to what most of the coffee shops are offering which are bitter, strong and dark.
Even if I had done several coffee cupping activities in the past, I was still excited to do the Caffe Bene way of Coffe Cupping. This is actually very simple and can be performed even at home. For kids, Parental Guidance is advised.

I first smelled each coffee. The Caffe Bene “medium-roasted” coffee has a caramel-like smell.
Then, we poured boiling water to each cup, allowing the flavor to sip in for 4 minutes.
It is interesting observing how the coffee grind and flavor mix with water. The bubbles and steam told us the flavor and taste were interacting with the water. Science was unfolding infront of us.
