Acclaimed director David Fincher is reportedly set to make the American adaptation of the award-winning global Netflix series Squid Game.

According to Deadline, unnamed sources revealed that David will be developing the Squid Game project next year.
The multi-award-winning American director is the visionary behind psychological thrillers such as Fight Club (1999), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Gone Girl (2014), and The Killer (2023).
This Fincher project would mark the first offshoot of the Netflix blockbuster scripted series. In 2023, a British reality competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge, was released.
The first season of Squid Game premiered worldwide in 2021. A month after its release, the South Korean dystopian series became the most-watched series on the popular streaming platform.
Moreover, Squid Game won six out of 14 nominations at the Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Production Design, among others.
The second season, which is set to premiere worldwide in December 2024, will see the return of Lee Jung-jae, Gong Yoo, Wi Ha-jun, and Lee Byung-hun. It will also introduce new cast members such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, T.O.P, and more.
