Following its unprecedented international success three years ago, Squid Game will be back on the small screen this December, offering fans and viewers much more to look forward to than before.

According to the South China Morning Post, show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that the next installment will be “more intriguing” than the first.
“In Season 2, Gi-hun, who survived Season 1, returns to the games—not to win this time around, but to put an end to these games,” Hwang said during the thriller series’ first global promotional event.
He continued: “There is going to be a larger number of characters this time and more intriguing games that are all worthy of a lot of the viewers’ love and support.”
Lee will be reprising his role, as well as Gong Yoo, Wi Ha-jun, and Lee Byung-hun. Meanwhile, the second season will introduce new cast members such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, T.O.P, and more.
Meanwhile, Gi-hun will return to the life-or-death games to “put an end” to the horrors he endured during the first season.
For those who want a refresher on his character, Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) was a former gambling addict who joined the games in Season 1.
“Gi-hun is a very different person in Season 2. This time around he wants revenge. He wants to catch the people behind the games, and he wants to bring them to justice,” the show creator shared.
Last month, Hollywood news site Deadline reported that acclaimed American director David Fincher would be developing the American adaptation of the multi-award-winning South Korean dystopian show.
“I don’t think it’s official yet, so I cannot tell much about it. But, you know, I respect him as a filmmaker and creator,” he said.
“So if he does it, you know, I’m looking forward to seeing it, watching it,” he continued.
Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 26.
