Popular Video Game ‘Cuphead’ Gets Its Own Show — Here’s Your First Look!

No gamer geek alive has never heard of video game Cuphead—a classic run-and-gun action-adventure that has become one of the most popular titles to date for its amazing 1930s-inspired hand-drawn animation, jazzy music, and for being such a difficult game to complete.

With Cuphead having earned several awards and both critical acclaim and commercial success, it’s no surprise that Netflix decided to pick it up and turn it into an animated series. This week, Annecy International Animated Film Festival finally gave fans a first peek at what the titular character and his brother Mugman would look like in the show!

It must be noted that the characters, although faithful to their in-game appearance, won’t be animated the same way (that is, hand-drawn frame-by-frame) especially since game developer StudioMDHR admitted that doing so will be too time-consuming. But fans needn’t worry about the story and the style straying too far from what they’ve grown to love knowing that Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, the founders of StudioMDHR, are working closely with the team in charge of the Netflix series.

The Cuphead Show! is set to have 11 episodes that will run for 10 minutes each. No premiere date has been revealed as of now.

Cuphead, published in 2017, is currently available to play on Xbox One, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.
