The grand finale on October 9 featured a talent show combined with three different runway looks, where the top four contestants—Angel, Khianna, Maxie, and Tita Baby—had to compete and prove their way to the highly-coveted crown and scepter.
The finale runway themes included “First Time’s A Charm,” “Art Attack Extravaganza,” and “Come In Your Best Drag,” while the talent show performance featured the queens performing their own original songs. For this segment, Maxie performed her original song “Laban.”
Finally, Khianna and Maxie had their final showdown as they lip-synced to Angeline Quinto and Regine Velasquez’s “Lipad na Pangarap,” where Maxie secured her victory.
After her performance, Maxi shared her reason for joining the competition.
“Thank you kasi sa wakas nagkaroon na ako ng korona. Sa wakas, nakita na, na deserve ko talaga ‘yung crown (Thank you, because finally, I have a crown. At last, it’s been recognized that I truly deserve the crown). I will promise you that I will be a better queen. And I wanna thank you, Lord, thank you for this talent, for this fighting spirit,” Maxie said.
“Gusto kong maalala niyong lahat na kahit anong pagsubok, kahit ilang beses tayong matalo, kahit ilang beses akong natalo sa kompetisyon, nandito ako (I want all of you to remember that no matter the challenges, no matter how many times I lost in competitions, I’m still here),” she added. “At kung meron kang pangarap, huwag kang mapapagod lumaban (And if you have a dream, don’t get tired fighting for it).”
Maxie is the third winner of Drag Race Philippines, following in the footsteps of Captivating KatKat from Season 2 and Precious Paula Nicole from Season 1. Meanwhile, Versex won the Miss Congeniality award.
The well-loved drag queen made a memorable run during the season! Before the finale, she was the first queen to win back-to-back badges in Drag Race Philippines history, in addition to winning three Maxi challenges and RuBadges.
For winning the competition, Maxie not only takes home the crown and scepter but also a cash prize of one million pesos and a one-year supply of cosmetics from Anastasia Beverly Hills.
