Carlos Yulo’s performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya was defined as much by family as it was by historic hardware. Securing his first two gold medals at the continental multi-sport showcase marked a major personal milestone, but sharing the stage with his 18-year-old brother, Karl Eldrew Yulo, made the experience far more memorable.

Speaking in an interview with Olympics.com, Carlos reflected on the pride of sharing the floor with his sibling.
”Of course, it’s really fun. This is our second time competing together as Team Philippines, and as a family,” Carlos said. “It’s truly an honor to represent our country alongside my brother. Today was pure joy.”
For Eldrew, making his Asian Games debut next to his older brother fulfilled an ambition he had held since childhood.
”It’s been my dream since I was a kid to compete beside him,” Eldrew told Olympics.com. “I’m just really grateful that we’re both safe today—no injuries. It was exhausting, but being right next to him made it so enjoyable.”

Their joint appearance in Japan followed an impressive outing at the 2026 Asian Gymnastics Championships in China, where both brothers stood on the floor exercise podium—Carlos capturing gold and Eldrew securing a breakthrough bronze for his first senior international medal.
Carlos opened the Philippines’ gold rush at the 20th Asian Games on September 24, 2026. Dominating the men’s floor exercise at the Nagoya General Gymnasium, his 5.7 difficulty routine earned a winning 14.666 points, edging out Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi (14.600) for top honors.

He followed up the next day on vault, posting a 14.733 on his first attempt and 14.466 on his second to average 14.599 points and secure his second Asian Games gold.
”GOD did it again,” the Olympic champion wrote on Instagram after completing the double-gold performance.
The victories filled one of the few remaining gaps in Yulo’s resume, adding to an elite record that includes two gold medals from the 2024 Paris Games, two World Championship titles, 12 Asian Championship crowns, and nine Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medals.
Eldrew capped off the family’s week in Nagoya by winning bronze in the men’s horizontal bar, recording a score of 13.666 behind a 5.0 difficulty rating and an 8.566 execution score.
