While it may be true that Angelina Jolie was amazing in it, that Prince Philip was a cutie One Directionย lookalike, that the scenery was magical and unbelievably Disney-esque; “Maleficent” also broke those true-love-forever Disney barriers of once upon a timeโฆ not just in the movie’s ending, but in portraying how girls try to get over heartbreak in the most realistic (sans the magical elements) manner.
Don’t believe me? Think about it: Maleficent tries to move on from her heartbreak the exact same way all of your female friends try to get over heartbreak. Read on.
How to Mend a Broken Heart: 5 Steps By Maleficent
Step 1: Hagulgol-cry and isolate yourself from the world.
via ntd.tv
No matter how you look at it, Maleficent probably had it much worse. Not only did the guy lead her on and break her heart, he also put her to sleep and cut off her most prized possessions. Still,ย every girl who was in-love and has been heartbroken tends to cry after the heartbreak. After that, they hate not just the guy, but also the entire world. They shun their friends. Heck, they sometimes even shun foodโฆ except for tubs of ice cream, for some reason.
Step 2: Stalk the ex.
via thefairytalesite.net
I find it incredibly interesting how every girl stalks the guy in charge of their heartbreak. And if they don’t stalk, they have their friends stalk him for them. Which is exactly what Maleficent did. “Go, birdy, stalk the guy that I’ve loved since I was a child and report back to me.”
Step 3: Show him what he’s missing out on.
via au.movies.yahoo.com
Put on a dress that makes people go “WHOAAA!” Put on some hot makeup. Play up those killer “I’m over you!” eyes. Pout. And make the grandest entrance possible at the biggest party that he and his new flame will be at (or, you know, his kid’s baptism or whatever). The goal? To make him regret ever leaving you while forgetting the fact that this never, ever works.
Step 4: Put a curse on him.
via ryanseacrest.com
Or just curse him. Or his girlfriend. Or his kid – the one you probably didn’t know about. And do it on Twitter. On Facebook. Or on your blog. Whatever floats your boat, as long as the whole world gets to see it. While most of our girly curses are done in the form of parinig statuses nowadays, Maleficent is awesome coz she actually gets to curse his kid foreals.
Step 5: Regret all of the decisions that you made post-breakup (aka steps 1 to 4).
Like Maleficent, girls tend to regret all of the stupid decisions that they made post-breakup and try to fix them in the easiest way possible. Life being the way that it is, though, things never work out that way. Not even for Maleficent.
Sometimes, we really just have to go through the hardest struggles to realize that 1) it is better to be better and not bitter and 2) we have to go through hard times and bigger struggles to realize that broken hearts are nothing but exactly that: broken hearts. They are broken, but not irreparable. So keep that chin up, realize you’re worth and just move on. ๐
