The whole country celebrated the New Year with a bang, but one person who did not celebrate with us was Chris Brown. Chris, who was scheduled to perform at the Philippine Arena for the New Year’s Eve countdown, did not show up.

According to Maligaya Development Corporation (MDC), which handles Ciudad de Victoria where the arena is located, Chris’s management told them that he won’t be able to make it because he lost his passport hours before his flight to Manila. Chris also confirmed the news himself by posting a series of tweets on Twitter. In his last tweet, he said that he will come in spring (March to May).

Atty. Anthony Garcia Gacal, the legal counsel of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), which owns the Philippine Arena, said they want to give refunds to all the ticket holders after Chris did not make it to the concert.

Netizens have expressed their disappointment on social media, with some fans not believing the lost passport story.
