It is easy to see why Manila is slowly becoming a fashion hub in Asia with renowned designers, fashionistas and international fashion retail chains of every brand popping here and there to satiate our fashion conscious Manileños and Manileñas. Who would’ve guessed 10 years ago that we would be peppered by international fashion retail chains today?
Burton opened its doors this June at the 3rd level of the Mega Fashion Hall promising Great British Style to men in the metro – and who wouldn’t want to look like or feel like David Beckham or Daniel Craig?
Founded in 1903 in the United Kingdom under the brand name The Cross Tailoring Company, Burton shows its pedigree and heritage by interpreting Great British Style with a modern take on today’s casual wear.
I am not a fashionable man nor will I ever be. I am a self-confessed jeans and shirt guy. I know that there are a lot of us who rarely go to this type of stores by ourselves and most of the time it is our better half that drags us along. I am happy to report that Burton also caters to my kind of folk with plenty of tees, slacks, jeans and polo shirts to choose from at reasonable prices! I actually saw a couple of V-neck shirts for just PHP300. And they looked really comfortable, too.
As this was the opening of the very first store of Burton in Manila, a small private event was held which a lot of local celebrities, writers and bloggers graced to find out more about the brand.
DJ Nix Damn P was more than up to the task in entertaining the crowd with beats and mixes suitable for the runway.
Free-flowing booze and finger foods were served and those goat cheese stuffed cherry tomatoes with walnuts were to die for.
Aside from the grand opening of Burton Menswear London, it was also the 10th year anniversary of Dorothy Perkins in Manila. Read about that here: Dorothy Perkins: Now Empowering Filipinas at SM Mega Mall’s Mega Fashion Hall
After a small program introducing the brands, we were escorted to the catwalk by the lovely models to highlight the collection from both brands.
So, when looking for that great British style in Manila, keep in mind that Burton has had experience in the matter since 1903. Plus, the ladies go crazy over a sharply dressed man!
Of course, one’s look does not start and end with fashionable clothes, either; a man must also accessorise (Hooray for UK English!) and own a good pair of shoes: Sledgers Shoes for Men Go High Fashion with ‘Style De Vie’ Also, owning the right watch does not only give a impression of what you wear but of also who you are: Tendence Fantasy Watch: A Classy and Cool Twist to Your Wrist!
