After going viral in 2025, Mang’s TAHO temporarily suspended sales due to recent heatwaves in South Korea. In a TikTok video, the Filipino-run, home-based taho stand in Seoul shared that the country’s extremely hot weather had affected its revenue, acknowledging that warm taho simply doesn’t suit the scorching summer heat.

“Hello guys, mag-i-stop muna tayo ng operation kasi wala, wala tayong customer. Walang pumupunta kasi mainit nga; ayaw nilang magtaho,” Mang’s TAHO said.
In a country with a temperate climate, extreme heat is highly unusual. The recent conditions proved unbearable for many, resulting in a spike in heat-related illnesses across South Korea.

This year, South Korea experienced its warmest temperatures in 122 years. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the highest temperature recorded in the country so far this year was 42.5°C in the southeastern city of Yangsan on August 2, 2026.
After weeks of enduring tropical heat, the weather agency finally lifted the nationwide heatwave warnings on August 10, 2026, as the country gradually began experiencing milder weather, particularly from night until dawn.

Mang’s TAHO plans to return to business once the weather in the country cools down. “Maybe mag-o-open ulit ako ng around August or September kasi dun na yung malamig na ulit,” the owner noted.
The taho vendor initially gained traction on social media by sharing organic interactions with customers and showcasing candid reactions from Koreans to the traditional Filipino sweet dessert. He typically operates in Jongno-gu close to the Hyehwa-dong Catholic Church, where many Filipinos attend Mass.

Mang’s TAHO has also served dessert to several social media personalities, significantly bolstering his popularity. Among those who have visited are South Korean YouTuber and former idol group member Jessica Lee; Philippine-based Korean travel vlogger SeoHee; and content creator Kelly Korea, known for her lifestyle, food, and cultural exploration videos across Asia.
