Against the Current Returned to the Skydome for One Amazing Night

Against the Current returned to the Skydome at SM North Edsa for a concert that rocked their fans’ collective socks off! This concert was part of The Past Lives Tour based on their latest album entitled Past Lives. Band Members Chrissy Costanza, Will Ferri, and Daniel Gow were back in the Philippines after last year’s concert at the UP Town Center. This was the band’s fifth visit to the Philippines since their first concert back in 2014 with Alex Goot.

Gracenote

Gracenote, who was also the opening act during the 2016 concert, was back and helped pump the crowd up that night. There was one memorable quip between songs from the lead singer where she revealed her real name was NOT “Grace”, but “Eunice”.

The Vowels They Orbit

The band named The Vowels They Orbit was next and they did equally great. Their set drew a positive response from the Skydome audience and they look to be one of the up-and-coming bands you should look out for.

Chrissy Costanza

Against the Current entered the Skydome stage to a huge ovation. They started their set with “Strangers Again”. Against the Current showcased more from their “Past Lives” album that night with “Almost Forgot”, “Come Alive”, “Personal”, and the crowd pleasing song “Voices”. The band also performed the song “I Like the Way”, for the first time in front of a live audience.

Daniel Gow

The band performed a couple of hit songs in between from their 2015 Gravity EP such as “Gravity” and “Dreaming Alone”. From their 2016 “In Our Bones” album, they played my personal favorites “Running with the Wild Things” and “Runaway”. The band also played songs from their 2016 album such as “One More Weekend”, “Chasing Ghosts”, “Roses”, and “Demons”.

Will Ferri

They came back for an encore set with “In Our Bones”, which was part of their very first album of the same title. Chrissy told us that their first album was like their first baby and that they will really cherish it. The band finished off their encore set with “Wasteland” before the concert ended.

Chrissy

Overall it was a concert to remember for the fans. The two opening acts did a great job of entertaining the crowd. Against the Current gave a high-octane performance to the audience which was exemplified by Chrissy Costanza’s unlimited energy as she sang and performed all over the stage. Thank you to Against the Current for yet again delivering an unforgettable performance that Sunday night.

We would also like to thank the people from Phoenix Productions and DMC Philippines for giving us the chance to cover this great concert.
