As they say, we work to live and not live to work. Our barkada knows this very well. Hence, we strive for that work-life balance.
I am a working girl from the North-Eastern side of Metro Manila. My three other friends, meanwhile, are from Katipunan-Taft universities and are currently working on each of their own school thesis. After a series of “drawings” and cancelled out-of-town plans due to our busy schedules, Upper Story made it possible for our barkada to have that sweet escape from the city within the city.
Managed by Hospitality Innovators, Inc., these serviced apartments at Centro Tower are perfect for when you want to take a quick break and chill like tourists but don’t want to go too far.
The moment we stepped into our two-bedroom suite, we were charmed by its “unfinished look”. Its cement-finished walls, pebbled glass vases, and water pipe-like handles truly give justice to their contemporary industrial motif.
The living room area has a comfy sofa, a coffee table, and a 40-inch LED TV.
All rooms have a fully equipped kitchenette. If you don’t feel like leaving, or if you’re checked in for a long-term stay; kitchenware like chopping boards, knives, pans, spatulas, and induction stove are also available for use. Snacks like biscuits and cup noodles, as well as canned beverages, are readily available for your convenience, as well.
Of course, they also have a refrigerator and a microwave.
There are also dining utensils perfectly assembled on the dining table, including the menu of the cafe downstairs. You have the option to order from the Cookbook Cafe and get your food delivered to your suite.
Upon first glance at our bedroom, we immediately felt relaxed and energized at the same time.
Its neutral gray and white surfaces complement the popping bright blue and yellow accents.
They have queen-size or twin beds depending on the room you avail of; but either way, their soft bouncy surfaces will definitely give you a good night’s sleep.
The cabinets and drawers are extra roomy, making it easy to organize your luggage. Marie Kondo would be proud! They also have a vault for extra safe keeping.
We certainly love how spacious their bathrooms are! We didn’t need to dress up and do our skincare routines in tight, damp shower spaces.
Who are we kidding? We can’t leave our paperwork at home. It was as productive as it was a relaxing stay with plenty of sockets to charge our laptops, in-room Wi-Fi access, and complimentary coffee to wake us up.
In the wee hours of the night, we got to do whatever we wanted: write our thesis, take a nap, even stage a fun mini pictorial in their oh-so-clean and cozy white robes!
They have a fitness center at the top-most floor, too. We had no excuses to skip cardio and strength training as the gym was just an elevator ride away!
What is a staycation without a dip in a pool? They have two swimming pools: one for kids and an infinity pool where you can watch the beautiful sunset over the city skyline.
Complete your stay with a meal or two at Cookbook Café, a quaint and artsy restaurant that serves great food at the ground floor of the building. The ambiance gives off a cool and rejuvenating vibe that’s pleasing to the eyes. It is definitely Instagram-worthy.
They offer a wide range of food selections perfect for any type of craving. Our personal favorites are the pulled pork disco fries, Tuscan ribs, and the choco lava cake.
In case you’re wondering, Upper Story is also located less than 15 minutes away from many commercial centers such as the Araneta Center, Robinsons Magnolia, Greenhills Shopping Center, Eastwood City, and Cubao Expo.
Oh, and did we mention that your pet can tag along, too? No need to leave Ming-ming behind as Upper Story prides itself on being pet-friendly. Plus, they have special introductory rates until the end of 2019.
