Where to Run in and Around Metro Manila

I love the new trend that says nobody comes back from a run unhappy. Maybe exhausted, maybe sore… or even hungry! But NEVER unhappy. And one of the best things I truly enjoy about running is exploring new routes. Sometimes, my runs are not simply about completing my goal distance or beating my personal best. They’re also about journeying through scenic routes on foot! That’s what fills me with joy.

It gives me a different sense of achievement. Knowing that my body could do that, plus being a tourist in my own country? It just hits different. Every run in a different city is a brand-new experience because, honestly, not everyone who runs is training for a marathon… some just run.

So, when in Manila and looking for a place to run, here are some free, beginner-friendly spots to explore!

Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex

Situated along Roxas Boulevard, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex in Pasay City offers a scenic coastal running loop. Run through cultural landmarks in the art district, and take in Manila Bay’s mesmerizing golden sunset views!

Ayala Triangle Gardens

At the heart of the CBD, you can enjoy Car-Free Sundays in Makati City at the Ayala Triangle Fitness Loop (pedestrian-only areas of Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas) and Ayala Avenue (Salcedo-HV Dela Costa to Courtyard Drive) from 6 AM to 10 AM! But if you want a quick run before or after the business you came to Makati for, you can use the pathways inside Ayala Triangle Gardens.

Bonifacio Global City (BGC)

Bonifacio Global City is easy to navigate and known for its well-lit streets, but if you’re looking for an uninterrupted run away from stoplights, head to the BGC Greenway Park—a 1.6-kilometer linear park tucked behind the district’s residential and office towers.

University of the Philippines (UP) Academic Oval

Besides being one of the most popular running routes in Metro Manila, did you know that the University of the Philippines (UP) Academic Oval in Quezon City actually serves as the “lungs” of the campus? The half-century-old acacia trees that line the path provide students, runners, cyclists, and families with shade and cleaner air, making it an ideal place to embrace both nature and wellness.

Filinvest City

Running in Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City is one way to immerse yourself in Southie culture. Here, you will feel its chill city vibes in its wide sidewalks and tree-lined streets, where restaurants, cafés, and malls are just a few steps away! You can even achieve your distance goals here without running around in circles, thanks to plenty of route options, especially on Carless Sundays (5 AM to 9 AM).

Vermosa

This recreational space in Imus and Dasmariñas, Cavite, was built intentionally with runners and cyclists in mind, as reflected in its wide roads and dedicated active lifestyle spaces that highlight its community’s modern suburban way of life. Vermosa is less crowded than other Metro Manila venues, making it a true nature running destination!

Marikina

Another less hectic route than major business district venues with long uninterrupted pathways is the Marikina River Park. As a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly city in Metro Manila, it also holds Car-Free Sundays from 6 AM to 9 AM along Gil Fernando Avenue Extension.
