This April 20–24, 2026, the University of the Philippines Diliman Department of Mechanical Engineering will celebrate its annual Mechanical Engineering Days (ME Days). ME Days serves not only as a departmental gathering but also as a celebration of the UP DME community by fostering camaraderie among mechanical engineering students through fun, collaborative competitions, workshops, talks, and activities.
This year, ME Days is themed around the concept of a local arcade, with five sub-events: DME Fest, DME Student Organization Events, Linkage, Shopee Roadshow, and CulMEnight.
The DME Fest is a sports fest that strengthens camaraderie and promotes all-around fun. Both individual and team games are included, with the fest featuring a wide array of activities for everyone: Filipino games, board games, e-sports, and more.
Correspondingly, the DME Student Organization Events will consist of two separate activities led by the department’s home organizations, the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers – UP Student Unit, Inc. (PSME UPSU) and Gears and Pinions (GPs).
The Linkage showcases mechanical engineering topics, highlighting their importance and relevance. With professionals imparting their expertise, this event provides attendees with an overview of the field. It also serves as an avenue for students to expand their knowledge and hone their skills.
Similarly, the Shopee Roadshow is an event that functions as both a networking opportunity and an insight-providing session from a valuable corporate partner, offering a glimpse into what it is like to work in a large conglomerate.
Lastly, as a celebration to end the week, CulMEnight closes ME Days with a bang. This gathering is designed for participants to simply enjoy, feel the sense of community, and embrace the spirit of mechanical engineering. Open to everyone in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, this event commemorates the joy and pride of the department.
