Sine Tomasino 2026: Homecoming Marks the Return of UST’s Flagship Film Festiv

The Thomasian Film Society officially announces the return of its flagship film festival, Sine Tomasino 2026: Homecoming, happening from April 20 to 24, 2026 at the University of Santo Tomas.

First launched in 2015 and last held in 2019, Sine Tomasino returns this year with a renewed mission to provide a platform for student filmmakers to showcase their works and creative voices. Anchored on the theme Homecoming, the festival marks both its comeback and a symbolic return of Thomasian filmmakers to their alma mater, while inspiring current students through shared stories and on-campus screenings.

The five-day festival will feature a comprehensive lineup of film screenings, workshops, and events that highlight student creativity and promote a deeper appreciation of Philippine cinema.

MAIN COMPETITION (April 20–23)
Thomas Aquinas Research Auditorium

The festival’s main competition consists of two divisions:
Pelicula de Tomasino – 6 entries from Thomasian filmmakers

Pelicula Universitaria (Intercollegiate Division):
Narrative Category – 10 entries
Documentary Category – 5 entries
Experimental Category – 5 entries

OUT-OF-COMPETITION SCREENINGS (April 20–23)
Engineering Conference Hall

Special screenings will feature selected films involving University of Santo Tomas alumni, including:
Bar Boys: After School, with alumnus Leo Liban as one of the producers
Kono Basho, directed by alumnus Jaime Pacena

FILM WORKSHOP: SONY FILM SCHOOL CARAVAN (April 23)
Central Laboratory Auditorium

In partnership with Sony Philippines, the festival will host a Film School Caravan, offering students an opportunity to learn from industry professionals through a specialized filmmaking workshop.

AWARDS NIGHT (April 24)
Medicine Auditorium

The festival will conclude with an Awards Night recognizing outstanding student films and achievements across all categories.

With its return in 2026, Sine Tomasino: Homecoming reinforces its commitment to developing student filmmakers and strengthening the culture of cinema within the Thomasian community.
