DC fans have a new casting update to look forward to. According to a report from Deadline, Sebastian Stan has officially joined the cast of The Batman II, where he is set to portray Harvey Dent, one of Gotham’s most well-known characters, also known as Two-Face.

The news was confirmed alongside reports that Andy Serkis will return as Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming sequel, directed by Matt Reeves. Stan’s involvement had been rumored earlier this year, along with talks of Scarlett Johansson possibly joining the film. Recent updates suggest that both actors are now on board.
Details about Harvey Dent’s role in the story are still under wraps. The sequel is co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, and while plot specifics haven’t been revealed, Robert Pattinson previously described the film as “a really different type of Batman movie” compared to the 2022 release.
This has led to speculation among fans about the sequel’s direction, including whether it might draw inspiration from storylines like Batman: The Long Halloween. However, no official plot details have been confirmed as of writing.
Production for The Batman II is expected to begin around June 2026, following Pattinson’s current commitments. Reeves will return to direct, with Pattinson reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The Batman II is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on October 1, 2027.
