The Archery Academy Teaches You How to Hit the Right Spot this Summer!
ย
When in Manila, summer season marks the beginning of new adventures. Now that summer vacation is here, why not try something cool like archery?
Over the weekend, that is exactly what my partner Charlie and I did: we went to The Archery Academy and learned how to shoot arrows.
Instructor Gio Endaya gave us specific instructions on how to properly handle our bows — from our overall posture down to the form of our fingers. He took the time to teach us one by one before we shot our first arrow, revealing that there is intricacy in this sport.
โMost people think that archery is all about the arms, but the truth is, your whole body is engaged. It is also very important that you keep your core tight,โ he told us. Truth be told, by the time that I was firing my third arrow, beads of sweat had already formed on my skin, and my heart kept beating faster and faster.
What made archery even more captivating was Gioโs wide knowledge about it. Curious, Iโd throw questions at him every now and then, in which he would answer in-depth regarding the kinds of bows, how to aim, etc. Having competed in numerous competitions both locally and abroad, shooting since he was 8 years old, and teaching archery since 2012, he is the perfect man for the job.ย The best part of it, beyond all the technical matters, is that he is genuinely passionate about archery — and that makes all the difference.
When in Manila, you donโt have to be Robin Hood, Katniss, or Cupid to be able to fire an arrow. Come join classes at The Archery Academy, and be the archer youโve always wished to be. Bullโs eye!
