Known as one of the most dominant social media platforms in the early 2000s, the app is set to reintroduce itself to a new generation of internet users while also recapturing the vibe that longtime users have known since its inception.
This time, the social networking platform will help you connect with people you actually know instead of having “suggested strangers” pop up on your feed. In order to add your friends to the platform, you have to tap your phones together.
Moreover, the platform has “no ads, no algorithms, no spam.” It also states that they will never sell your data.
However, the app is currently only available for Apple users.
Launched in 2002, Friendster was a social networking service that allowed users to connect with others, share content such as videos, photos, and messages, and discover new people, events, and hobbies. It predates both MySpace (2003) and Facebook (2004).
The company suspended its services in 2015 due to a “lack of engagement” and the “evolving landscape” of the industry.
