Terrace 45: A Family Food Affair

Terrace 45

Terrace 45, a quaint and an unlikely restaurant located at the heart of Quezon City is, in my honest opinion, one of those must-visit restaurants if you are in town. But be on alert as this restaurant can easily be missed (like I did). However, I can assure you that the trip is going to be worth it.

Terrace 45

This home-turned-restaurant is run by a family of foodies headed by siblings Karen and Karl who converted their late grandparents’ terrace to the aptly named Terrace 45 which is located at #45 Dr. Lazcano st. in Quezon City.

When we arrived, it was an immediate onslaught of culinary delights of family recipes tweaked to provide a new and unique twist and taste to otherwise common dishes. We had the Buffalo Bacon Wings (PHP 265.00) first—chicken lollipops wrapped in bacon with a spicy glaze. The initial impression was already high because who would not love bacon-wrapped chicken?

Terrace 45Barbeque Chicken Flatbread (PHP 195.00): Grilled chicken, sauteed onions, tangy barbecue sauce, and cheese.

I’ve been loving poutine the day I saw it on TLC channel. Here is an excellent take on this Canadian dish, the Pork Rind Poutine (PHP 185.00). Hand cut fries, gravy, fried garlic, aioli, and homemade chicharon.

Terrace 45The House’s Caesar Salad (PHP245.00): Romaine lettuce, honey glazed bagel-crouton, parmesan cheese, bacon, and Caesar dressing.

After we finished with our tasty appetizers, it was time for the mains. And from what I’ve heard about Terrace 45, it should not disappoint! First off was the Spiced Rubbed Ribs (PHP 435.00) which was slow roasted and glazed grilled ribs with garlic mashed potatoes. The meat was falling off the bone on this one. So tender!

Then it was the best seller, the Grilled Pork Chop (PHP 325.00). A hefty serving of pork chops and grilled vegetables on dirty rice. The pork chop was juicy, but in my personal opinion, the star of the dish was the dirty rice.

Karl and Karen’s go-to dish, is the Skillet Fried Chicken (PHP 295.00). It’s made of a very crispy fried chicken with herbed rice that can be enjoyed with either honey mustard or gravy (I’m a gravy person BTW).

The Slow Cooked Beef (PHP 345.00) is slow-cooked tender beef in roasted garlic gravy, topped with toasted garlic with a side of steamed rice and seasonal vegetables. The description of the dish is more than enough to make your mouth water.
