Terrace 45: A Family Food Affair

 

For something a bit special, we became testers for a dish that is not yet on the menu—the chicken barbecue. This will be a best seller, in my opinion. The chicken was very tender and tastes really close to one of the more famous restaurants serving barbecued chicken. This is probably my favorite dish for the night even more so if served with the dirty rice.

The Terrace 45 Iced Tea, a blend of their tea selections with real fruit juices. This one was very good.

Terrace 45 does not officially serve cocktails yet, but we were introduced to The Green C. A mixture of rum, honey, lemon juice, and celery leaves. I’d describe it as a really, really good lemon juice with a kick and I will actually down a pitcher of this if given the chance.

Top tip: Even if The Green C is not yet on the menu, it can be ordered upon request ala secret menu.

And of course there would be desserts! The Butterscotch Pudding (PHP 150.00) is a serving of moist sponge cake, butterscotch sauce, and vanilla ice cream. The Honey Cinnamon Crisp (PHP 135.00), on the other hand, is fried pastry with honey cinnamon sauce, toasted nuts, and vanilla ice cream.

But the night was not yet finished. We were served a blend of their house teas, too. The tanginess of the raspberry tea was something we needed after pigging out over such rich food that was served to us that night.

I really like the concept of Terrace 45—converting your grandparents’ place into a restaurant (with the blessing of your food-loving family) into a space where guests can enjoy good food in a comfortable and homey environment. All this is a testament to how good the food is. Karen earned a Diploma Course in Culinary Arts, while Karl is a passionate cook who learned from his mother and sisters. “Our family feels really honored to share three generations of good food and warm hospitality to all our guests at Terrace 45,” Karl and Karen shared.

So when in Manila, especially somewhere in Quezon City, head towards Terrace 45 to see what the rave is all about.
