Ogie And the Hurados Will be Performing at the Resorts World Manila This October

With their judging chores in It’s Showtime’s ng “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment done for this year, the judges or “hurados” (at least eight of them) are letting it loose at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila on October 10 in a concert dubbed as “Ogie and the Hurados”.

The one-night concert is topbilled by OPM hitmaker Ogie Alcasid with his fellow hurados: “punong hurado” composer Rey Valera, the “Divine Diva” Zsa Zsa Padilla and her daughter Karylle, multi-awarded performer and international singing competition champion Jed Madela, hitmaker and comedian Randy Santiago, comedian-singer K Brosas, and actress-comedian Karla Estrada. A casting coup that is fitting for the 10th anniversary celebration of the Resorts World Manila, the country’s premier entertainment and lifestyle destination.

During the presscon for the concert, Ogie performed a medley of some of the popular songs of the late Rico J. Puno, who was also one of the “hurados” of Tawag ng Tanghalan

A “riot” and “one jamming session” is how Ogie sums up the concert. Besides OPM songs, which is the main fare, people can expect a huge servings of videoke favorites that will surely make everyone sing along. “I’ll be singing songs that I have never sang before such as “My Way”. Although it’s my father’s favorite and I sing it when I videoke, I will sing it live for the first time in the concert,” Ogie said.

Production numbers with his fellow hurados are much-awaited, too. K Brosas and Karla Estrada will sing a medley of “kontesera” pieces or songs usually sang by contestants in singing competitions. It will be a tribute to what contestants go through or experience when they compete. And the millions of viewers of Tawag ng Tanghalan are witness to such hardships and the hard work they put in every performance. The winner of the competition, according to Ogie, truly deserves all of the prizes.

According to Ogie, the contestants in Tawag ng Tanghalan inspire all the hurados and they learn a thing or two from them as well, even though they are already seasoned performers. “They are really good and although we are tasked to judge their performances day in day out, it is also a learning experience for us also. It is an exchange of learnings”.

Spending most days of the week together for months on end, the hurados have become close friends on and off cam. Thus, Ogie said it will not be a surprise if the Ogie and the Hurados will be the beginning of more concerts of them together. Other hurados have told him that they want to perform with him, too. And there are still many other hurados including Gary Valenciano, Dulce, Louie Ocampo, Jaya, Kyla, Jolina Magdangal, Erik Santos, Nyoy Volante, Yeng Constantino, Mitoy Yonting and Billie Crawford.

Ogie and the seven hurados with him are out to show their camaraderie onstage at RWM’s Newport Performing Arts Theater on October 10

When In Manila asked Ogie which of his own songs he would love to hear his fellow hurados sing and these are his choices for them: for Zsa Zsa, Sa Kanya; for Rey Valera, Pangako, for Jed Madela, Di Pababayaan or Kailangan Kita; for Karylle, Kung Mawawala Ka; for K Brosas, Kung Mawawala Ka; for Randy Santiago, Dito Sa Puso Ko and for Karla Estrada, Nandito Ako.

Ogie was last seen at RWM when he shared the stage with National Artist for Music Mr. Ryan Cayabyab at his Valentine’s concert “Master of Love”. After Ogie and the Hurados, the singer-songwriter has scheduled shows abroad and a musical based on his songs is in the works.

But with Tawag ng Tanghalan now off season after the just-finished huling tapatan (grand finals), he and the hurados are looking forward to have fun. And all the madlang pipol are invited to join in the fun with Ogie and the Hurados on October 10, 2019 Thursday 8PM at RWM’s Newport Performing Arts Theater with musical direction from Nikko Rivera and concert direction from Paolo Bustamante. Tickets are still available at the RWM Box Office and all TicketWorld outlets.
