Contestant Mariko Ledesma, who won a spot at the Tawag ng Tanghalan Grand Finals on noontime show It’s Showtime, has backed out from competing to deal with the “depression” she has experienced following her controversial win against Mariane Osabel.
It’s Showtime hosts Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, and Anne Curtis revealed Mariko’s decision on Saturday’s episode. Later, Mariko issued her own statement on Facebook.

“Hindi madali sa akin ang pag-quit ko sa TNT pero mas mahihirapan po ako kung ipagpapatuloy ko pa ang laban kung [ako] ay nag-sa-suffer sa depression,” she admitted. “After po ng laban ko kay Mariane, samu’t-saring pangbabatikos po ang inabot ko at masyadong personal po ang pangba-bash na inabot ko. Mula PM, DM at dumating pa sa point na may text pa.”
Many of the show’s fans were unhappy about the scores given by the judges to Mariane which led to her elimination. Fans started accusing the contest of being rigged and have since demanded an explanation for the “questionable” result.
Mariko, who has found herself in the middle of the controversy, appealed to fans to cease their online attacks.

“Sana po itigil niyo na po ang [pang-ba-bash] kasi tao po kami, nasasaktan at hindi niyo po alam kung anong epekto nito sa taong bina-bash niyo,” she said.
“Nawa’y maging malawak po sana ang isip [nating] lahat na sa isang kompetisyon may mananalo at may matatalo. Sana patuloy niyo paring suportahan ang mga grand finalists ng TNT dahil po sila ay deserve sa kinalalagyan nila,” she continued.
She then thanked It’s Showtime for respecting her decision.
Taking Mariko’s spot in the Grand Finals to be held next week is “resbaker” Kim Nemenzo.
