LIST: Most Searched Names by Filipinos on Google in 2024

Do you wonder what the most searched names on Google are? As we wrap up the year, Google Philippines has finally released its annual list of the most searched names, news, songs, games, and more by Filipinos.

The term “heat wave” dominated the “News” and “Overall Top Trending Searches” categories on Google, as the country experienced intense heat waves beginning in April 2024. The heat wave prompted class suspensions, caused water shortages, and posed substantial public health challenges nationwide.

Coming in second place in the same category is Jaclyn Jose, who passed away on March 2, 2024. The multi-award-winning veteran actress died in her home at the age of 60.

Many Filipinos also tuned in to the 2024 Summer Olympics! Aside from “Olympics” being a part of the most searched terms, Carlos Yulo and EJ Obiena were highly searched by Filipinos for their significant contributions to Philippine sports.

Carlos, widely regarded as a two-time Olympic gold medalist in artistic gymnastics and the first Filipino athlete to win back-to-back gold medals at the Olympics, topped the “Male Personalities” and “Sports” categories. Meanwhile, highly decorated pole vaulter EJ secured the third and eighth spots in the same categories.

For the female counterpart, it is no surprise that BINI bagged the first spot. Dubbed the “nation’s girl group,” the octet went viral with multiple chart-topping tracks and amassed numerous awards in 2024 alone.

Finally, in the “Songs and Lyrics” category, six out of ten OPM songs made it to the list. These include Dionela’s Sining, TJ Monterde’s Palagi, BINI’s Salamin, Salamin and Pantropiko, Ben&Ben’s Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay, and Maki’s Dilaw.
