Even during the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has been busy devising measures to help the city. These include allowing the return of tricycles, providing 400,000 food packs for citizens, giving Pasig employees their full salary, and most recently, launching bus shuttles for front liners and commuters.

And next on the list includes Disinfection drones! This will help not only help sanitize the city but also no longer involve direct human contact!

The model is a DJI MG-1P, octocopter drone with a 10-liter payload. Made by DJI, Asia’s largest smart drone manufacturer, these drones were used by China as an aerial spray against Covid-19. And 3 drones were acquired by the Pasig City government. Each one retails for P1 million.

These drones come with a canister for liquid that will be dispensed. While flying, the drones then dispense the liquid into the air to disinfect certain areas. Since the drones from China spray an alcohol-based disinfectant, we can hope for the same strategy for Pasig City. As of now, they’re being tested at Rizal High School.

Good job, Mayor Vico Sotto!
