Hollywood icon Paris Hilton’s Beauty and the Beast-inspired family Halloween costume has sparked a heated online debate, with some social media users accusing the star of “stealing the spotlight” from her children.

In a family portrait Hilton posted on her personal Instagram account, the actress shines in a yellow ball gown reminiscent of Belle, while her husband, Carter Reum, portrays the Beast.
The portrait also features their son, Phoenix, dressed as Lumière, the enchanted candelabra, and their daughter, London, as Chip, the small teacup.

“My life is a fairytale, and the magic never ends,” Hilton wrote in the caption of her post, published on October 26, 2026.
While many fans found the family theme adorable, some netizens criticized the 45-year-old star for allegedly dressing her daughter as a side character rather than a princess to keep the spotlight on herself.
“Why not let your daughter be Belle? Attention has to be on her! Poor little girl!” one user commented.

Meanwhile, plenty of netizens came to Hilton’s defense, arguing that “mothers deserve to be princesses as well.”
“When you become a mom or dad, not everything has to be about your kids; it’s fine to be the center of attention sometimes,” an X (formerly Twitter) user posted.

As the post went viral, social media users began poking fun at the discourse, sharing how they would style their own families in Hilton’s shoes.
“Lmao, if I were a mom, I’d be Cinderella and my kids would be the mice,” joked one X user.
“If I were a mom, I’d be Snow White, my seven kids would be the dwarfs, and my mother-in-law would be the witch,” another replied.

This was not the first time the whole family dressed up for Halloween. Fans pointed out that in previous years, Hilton had already dressed her kids as the main characters.
In 2025, Hilton and Reum, together with their children, wore Peter Pan-inspired costumes. Her son, Phoenix, was Peter Pan, her daughter, London, was Wendy, and she dressed as Tinkerbell.
In 2024, they dressed up as characters from Toy Story: Hilton portrayed Bo Peep, Reum portrayed Sheriff Woody, Phoenix went as Buzz Lightyear, and London dressed as Jessie the cowgirl.

Amid the criticism, Hilton cleared the air in the comments on a behind-the-scenes reel from their photoshoot, saying it was actually her daughter’s personal choice to be Chip.
“Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies, and London said she wanted to dress up as Chip. She said it was her favorite character in the movie,” Hilton explained.

Proving once and for all that she loves letting her kids shine, Hilton later posted another family Halloween photo in which London took center stage as Wednesday Addams, while Hilton played Morticia.
