Malcolm’s Deli – A Place for Good Meats and Good Eats

Malcolm's Deli

When in Manila, watch out for a new and improved Malcolm’s Deli.  Our site recently dropped by at Malcolm’s and we had an incredible food experience!

Malcolm's Deli

During our visit, we talked to Corporate Chef Mario Mendoza and Marketing Manager Jerome Mitra to know more about Malcolm’s Deli. The deli, established in May of 2009 at the Bonifacio Global City area, re-opened this month with a new look and feel.

Wagyu Beef Tapa – Just one of the items for sale at Malcolm’s Deli

They told me that their new focus is to give more of a ‘deli’ feel to Malcolm’s Deli. You’ll see the whole deli vibe with the shelves stacked with local products up for sale. You can also see it with the freezer as it stores some fine deli meats, including Kitayama Wagyu Steaks and Sausages. Chef Mario added that they use Grade 6 Kitayama Wagyu in their menu, as well.

Malcolm's DeliMalcolm’s Stack Buttermilk Pancakes (340 php)

We started off with the Malcolm’s Stack Buttermilk Pancakes. Indeed, our dinner started in a very unorthodox fashion, with pancakes for dinner. The buttermilk pancakes of Malcolm’s Deli tasted heavenly. They were a combination of thick, fluffy and flavorful. While they did come with 3 tasty syrups (maple, strawberry and blueberry), the ‘pancake purist’ in me still enjoyed eating the pancakes without the syrups since they had a distinct and delicious taste.

As someone who is used to eating at a lot of other breakfast establishments, the pancakes at Malcolm’s Deli made it to the top 3 of my favorite pancakes of all time, so that’s saying something! The buttermilk pancakes also come with a side of fruits and granola bits.

Malcolm's DeliKitayama Wagyu Burger (420php)

The Kitayama Wagyu Burger was up next. The content of the burger was the basic tomatoes, onions and lettuce with a few slices of bacon. But don’t let that fool you. After our initial bite of the burger, we couldn’t help but cuss about how “mutha trucking” tasty it was! The burger patty was so thick and juicy and it made us want to sink our teeth into it some more.

The burgers at Malcolm’s Deli can also be customized with extra toppings to the customer’s delight. Every purchase of a Kitayama Wagyu Burger comes with a side of fries, pickle peperoncini and a small salad.

Malcolm's DeliCarbonara Romano (320 php)

The Carbonara Romano is a simple mix of bacon, oil and the egg yolk on top. Once mixed, the carbonara takes on a life of itself in terms of taste and flavor. Upon first glance, you’d think it doesn’t look ‘creamy enough’. The look gives off a pleasant surprise once you eat the dish, though, making it fall under the ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ category.

Malcolm's DeliCrispy Fried Beef Ribs (550 php)

The Crispy Fried Beef Ribs were next in our food itinerary for the night. The ribs had that amazing combination of ‘melt in your mouth’ goodness and the ‘crunch factor’. In other words, you’ll get that crispy exterior along with the tender and juicy meat at the beef ribs’ interior…in just one bite. The beef ribs come with some vegetables, rice and a sauce that adds an extra ‘oomph’ to your beef ribs.

Malcolm's DeliKitayama Wagyu Steak (Price may vary)

The main event of the evening came in the form of the Kitayama Wagyu Steak! Malcolm’s Deli has three types of steak that are available for the customers: Porterhouse, Ribeye and Striploin. We were treated to the porterhouse steak cut and it was magnificent. The steak was the kind of ‘tender and juicy’ that you’d look for in any steak.

The Kitayama Wagyu Steak of Malcolm’s Deli comes with a small salad, some vegetables and some onion quills on top. I might say, I loved eating those cute and crispy onion quills that was adorned on the steak. Another thing that comes with the Kitayama Wagyu Steak is the salt supplied by Solaris Sea Salts. While the steak already has a wonderful flavor, you can also add more spice into your steak eating experience with the available salts from Malcolm’s Deli if you feel the need to.

Malcolm's Deli

Overall, our visit to Malcolm’s Deli in BGC was fantastic. I’ve always been a fan of breakfast foods and burgers, and with Malcolm’s having one of the best burgers and pancakes, I’m pretty sure I’ll return to this fine establishment in the near future. When in Manila and hankering for a burger, a steak, or even some delicious pancakes, drop by Malcolm’s Deli and relieve those cravings!

We’d like to thank Jerome Mitra and Chef Mario Mendoza for giving us a sample of awesome eats inside Malcolm’s Deli.
