Let’s be real: for most of us, a trip to the SM Bowling center or SM Game Park involves a lot of laughs, a couple of gutter balls, and a whole lot of fun with the barkada. But for a group of incredibly talented young Filipinos, those sleek lanes are where their dreams of becoming the next sports legend begin.
Every champion has a “Day 1,” and for dozens of young bowlers, their journey took center stage at the Learn to Bowl Culminating Day and the first-ever PBF Youth Cup National Finals held last May 31 at SM North EDSA.
Bringing together aspiring athletes, proud parents, coaches, and bowling enthusiasts, the event was a massive celebration of the athlete’s journey—from throwing that very first straight ball to competing at a national level.
SM Supermalls isn’t just providing a place to hang out; they are actively building the future of Philippine sports.
“SM Supermalls wants to be part of an athlete’s journey from day one to the day they become champions. We are committed to providing them with spaces and programs where they can polish their skills and enjoy the spirit of competition,” says Joseph Francis Silva, Senior Assistant Vice President for Sports and Leisure.
The morning kicked off with major wholesome energy during the graduation of the Learn to Bowl program. After weeks of intense training, the kids got to show off everything they learned—from mastering the perfect grip and stance to nailing that smooth follow-through.
Adding serious star power to the event was literal bowling royalty: Olivia “Bong” Coo! The World Bowling Hall of Fame and Philippine Sports Hall of Fame member hung out with the kids, sharing pro-tips and inspiring the young bowlers as they took their first steps into the sport. Talk about a core memory unlocked!
By the afternoon, the energy shifted from cute to competitive. In partnership with the Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF), the afternoon hosted the PBF Youth Cup National Finals, showcasing the country’s most promising youth bowlers.
The road to the finals was no joke. It started back in April, with rigorous qualifying rounds across SM Supermalls bowling centers nationwide. These kids put in months—and some, even years—of dedication to earn their spot on the national stage.
Here are the young athletes who dominated the lanes and took home the titles:

More Than Just a Game
If there’s one thing this event proved, it’s that bowling is way more than just a recreational hobby. It builds rock-solid discipline, focus, and sportsmanship.
Through SM Bowling and SM Game Park’s massive nationwide network, SM Sports & Leisure is making sports incredibly accessible to Filipinos. They’re giving kids a premium space to train, compete, and dream big.
“Champions are not born on finals day. They are built through training, consistency, and opportunities to grow,” Silva added. “From learning the fundamentals to competing for championships, SM Supermalls is the place where winning begins.”
