In a series of Instagram photos, Kathryn Bernardo shared fun, candid snaps of herself alongside scenic views of the beloved destination. The posts also caught the attention of fans, many of whom associated the location with her breakout role in the 2012 hit series “Princess and I.”
“Tiger’s Nest, fur bbs, and… Princess Mikay?” her caption read, with the last two photos of the carousel post showing throwback photos of her character in the series as Mikay Maghirang.
In a separate Instagram reel, she gave fans a glimpse of her travels in Bhutan.
“This trend again… but make it Bhutan edition,” she captioned her post.
Her post gained widespread attention, with fans reminiscing about her iconic character in the show, as well as how the project propelled her to bigger and more diverse roles in both television and film.
“Princess and I” is a 2012 romance-drama that follows a hardworking, bubbly girl who discovers she is the long-lost crown princess of the fictional Kingdom of Yangdon (or Bhutan). In the series, she has a best friend who harbors feelings for her (played by Khalil Ramos), and she also crosses paths with Prince Jao (played by Enrique Gil), who eventually falls in love with her. However, it is the arrogant and cold Gino (played by Daniel Padilla) who ultimately wins her heart.
Following the show’s success, it led to numerous onscreen projects with Daniel, with whom she was in an 11-year relationship before they went their separate ways in 2023.
Since the breakup, Kathryn Bernardo starred in the thriller film “A Very Good Girl” and the romance drama “Hello, Love Again,” which became the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time. She is also set to make her long-awaited television comeback alongside James Reid.
