The Incheon International Airport Corporation has rescinded its plans to open a “private entrance” for celebrities.

On October 23, The Korea Herald reported that celebrities may use a “private entrance,” which is also a reserved designated gate in the departure area used by the flight crew.
The decision was made to minimize hazards and prevent incidents of dangerous overcrowding caused by fans attempting to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities or K-pop idols. The policy was initially expected to be implemented on October 28.
However, the decision was promptly withdrawn following backlash from netizens due to “preferential treatment.”
“In light of opinions raised during the parliamentary audit and media coverage, we will not implement the special entry procedure for high-profile individuals causing dense crowds, which was scheduled for October 28,” the corporation stated.
This measure came after an incident involving South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok, who faced controversy over “excessive security measures” at the airport.
In July, members of his security team blocked gates, flashed lights at passengers in the airport lounge, and conducted unauthorized passport checks on other passengers.
