Farewells are always bittersweetโand that might be the reason why this airport in New Zealand has installed a new signage in its newly relocated drop-off zone.
Dunedin Airport in New Zealand has introduced a new sign imposing a three-minute limit on hugs in its drop-off zone. Since its installation, the three-minute hug limit has received mixed reactions from online users worldwide.
The sign also reads: โFor fonder farewells, please use the car park.โ
Dunedin Airport CEO Daniel De Bono explained that the hug time limit was imposed to keep things from โmoving smoothly.โ
โWe are not here to tell people on how long they should hug for; itโs more of the message to please move on,โ he said.
โYou only need 20 seconds,โ he added. โA 20-second hug is enough to release oxytocin.โ
According to Dunedin Airportโs website, the drop-off zone was relocated to โimprove traffic flow and safety around the terminal,โ aiming to reduce traffic and congestion in the area.
