1. The Smoking Joint
The Smoking Joint just had their grand opening last week (JULY 2015) and it was a big success. Located at the old Knuckles Sandwich which was also under the same management. They wanted to bring Texas Southern BBQ the best way they know how: Smoking Meat.
Proud of their Barbecue smoked “low and slow” this is their Smoked Brisket. Beautiful smoky flavor with the hint of spice. Perfectly seasoned. You can see the ring around the brisket slice which proves that it was smoked low and slow.
Of course they have spare ribs, very good. I wish all sauce was on the side since it taste absolutely perfect without sauce!
I was as shocked as anyone when they served salads and VERY good ones. Lost for words with their Duck and Honey Mustard salad with Salanova Lettuce. Crisp veggies with meat and beautiful dressing. Definitely a must try.
They also have “sandwiches” the flat bread is their own take with Filipino pandesal. This sandwich is their BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. Coming by for seconds next time I’m in Aguirre. Another one you should try is their Smoked Cheese Steak.
Must try sides: Sweet Potato Corn Melt with Cheese on top (Favorite), Duck Rice (flavorful rice cooked in the remnants of the duck’s juices), Garlic Potato Wedges (very tasty) & Jalapeño Muffins (They’re not that spicy, it just has a kick, strangely addictive)

Hi Marita, you might have missed Cafe Alezon along Tropical Avenue. Their pesto pizza and tacos are to die for, their Baileys cookie shots too.
