In case you missed it, Elon Musk, the current and highly-controversial CEO of Twitter, has decided to run an online poll on the social media platform to see if he will continue on with his leadership of the company or finally step down. The billionaire told users that he will respect the results of the poll, which he put up on Sunday (Monday, Manila time), and warned everyone to “be careful what you wish [for].”
As of writing, 17.5 million people voted, 57.5% of whom are in favor of Elon stepping down.

It is unknown when Elon plans to let go of his position (if he truly will leave the company) and clarified that there is no successor yet.
“No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor,” he clarified in a reply to a tweet.
He later added: “Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it.”

Elon has been the subject of criticism ever since he took the helm as CEO in October, particularly for his swift move to lay off thousands of employees, for charging people for their Twitter verification mark, reinstating accounts previously banned such as former US president Donald Trump, introducing changes to the Twitter privacy policy, the suspension of journalists’ accounts that Elon claimed had “doxxed” him (shared personal information about him or his whereabouts), and no longer allowing “free promotion” of other social media platforms and posting third-party link aggregators.
