Ha Young has formally stepped down from her role in the upcoming second and third seasons of Netflix’s hit series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
Ha Young played nurse Cheon Jang-mi in the first season of Trauma Code, starring alongside Ju Ji-hoon and Choo Young-woo. Her character was widely praised, and she had been set to reprise the role for Trauma Code Seasons 2 and 3.
Unfortunately, public backlash for her recently ensued regarding her family history, specifically concerning her great-grandfather’s activities during Japan’s colonial rule over Korea.

Ha Young Controversy Explained
The situation unfolded after Ha Young appeared on a Korean variety program and discussed her multi-generational family background in medicine. Online scrutiny soon followed regarding her great-grandfather, doctor Ahn Sang-ho, and his documented involvement with a pro-Japanese association during the colonial era.
The actress issued a personal apology, explaining that she had previously been unaware of the full historical context surrounding her ancestor’s actions. Following the public response, she informed the production team that she wished to leave the project, and Netflix released a statement confirming her departure and expressing respect for her decision.
Ha Young’s Current Projects
Despite stepping down from future production on Trauma Code, Ha Young continues to push forward with her existing obligations. She has been focusing on wrapping up work for her leading role in SBS’s drama The Long Shot Trial (tentative title).
Because the vast majority of filming for The Long Shot Trial was already completed prior to the recent controversy, the project has proceeded through its final stages with Ha Young. As she wraps production on the SBS drama, her departure fromTrauma Code marks a significant turning point in her career while she moves forward with her remaining work.
