This meme came to be when a Korean contestant auditioned for a show in ABS-CBN called Pilipinas Got Talent and was publicly embarrassed by one of the judges, Robin Padilla, for not being able to speak in Filipino. Aling Vicky, or at least not-Aling Vicky, became famous overnight when a snippet of the film Baliktaran: Si Ace at Si Daisy went viral. The clip is essentially about a girl calling Aling Vicky because her [Aling Vicky’s] kid fell down a sewer. Aling Vicky then follows the girl as she runs towards the location of the sewer only to remember that she is not, in fact, Aling Vicky at all!

In the clip of the episode that went viral, Jenny tells Larry that he was road for not partaking in the welcome dinner that her parents prepared for the man.

Cardo Dalisay has seen many memes over the course of the show Probinsyano. Some time around July, an episode of the show featured Cardo riddled with gunshots to which fans responded: “Is this the end? Is Probinsyano finally over?” Turns out, it was all an elaborate dream. While you may have heard people use this phrase whenever they survived something that they shouldn’t have been able to (e.g. that super long exam in Chem or Math), it was first used by a man who was attacked by his friend in the back with a–wait for it–a bolo. His guardian angel was guarding his back. LITERALLY.

9. BATTOUSSAI
The battoussai meme happened simultaneously with the previous meme. If we have the attacked spouting out relatable phrases like: “Malakas ang guardian angel ko sa likod,” then we have the attacker cracking us up with his funny quips, too. By imitating Kenshin Himura from the anime Rurouni Kenshin, his friend was able to make it out in one piece. “Ginaya ko lang si Battousai. Binaliktad ‘yung talim,” he says.
