Why is the Palace of Versailles So Famous?
Versailles Palace was basically the main residence of French royalty back in the day, so visiting it will allow you to get a glimpse of how French kings and queens lived. The palace is adorned with stunning paintings and architecture you won’t soon forget, all embellished by generations of decorators, sculptors, and landscape architects. Get to see the private chambers of the royal family and learn captivating stories about Marie Antoinette.
What to See in Versailles Palace
I went for an all-access ticket without a tour guide or train ticket since I was staying with a friend in Chaville, and the experience was majestic. I felt like actual royalty the minute I arrived at Versailles Palace. In fact, I hadn’t even stepped in yet and I was already in awe of the entire place. It’s opulent and grand, and I will definitely be going back the next time I find myself in the area.
The hall of mirrors in itself is well worth the visit.
And the gardens? My goodness! They were breathtaking! I literally spent hours just walking around the manicured lawns and impeccable pathways, and imagining the parties that probably occurred on the palace grounds. (Side note: if you love Bridgerton, you will 100% love this place.)
If you do end up adding Versailles Palace to your itinerary, make sure to allot a few hours to Versailles Palace to the experience because there is just so much to see and explore. They also have a cafe inside so you can grab a bite to eat after spending a lot of time there. Enjoy!
