WATCH: Miley Cyrus sings a ‘modern’ version of Santa Baby

Miley Cyrus recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the Christmas classic, “Santa Baby” — with a twist. In place of the old and oversung lyrics, Miley fills in the music with her own words.

In a skit before the performance, Miley complains to Jimmy Fallon that the lyrics are outdated and borderline offensive. Fallon doesn’t quite see where she’s going with this but gives her the go signal to change whatever she’d like for the performance.

Miley then ‘surprises’ Fallon and Mark Ronson during the number with more relevant lines applied to the song. The original had the singer asking Santa Clause for ostentatious gifts, like yachts and cars. It also implied a bit of sexual tension between Santa and the singer.

The new version has Miley rejecting the gifts or overdependence on Santa: “Santa baby, I don’t need any fancy jewelry / Not me, I’ve got something else in mind / Santa baby, and I don’t need your presents tonight”. She also makes some gutsy statements like: “Santa baby, I’d love to know my ass won’t get grabbed / At work by some ignorant jerk / Tell the dirtbag to put away the chimney tonight”.
